3D Concept Site

This project attempts to re-define the experience of visiting a website, by placing the user in a futuristic World's Fair style pavillion, that showcases my portfolio of multimedia projects as a series of themed exhibits in an exhibition space. Using state-of-the-art vector animation techniques, the site aims to push the envelope of web design, by immersing the user in a physical, seemingly 3 dimensional, space.

Memories

This project is an interactive exploration of the particles of perception that float in the mind, using a fluid interface of ever-changing links. Basically, what happens is, you move your mouse around, causing clusters of bubbles to emerge, rather like an interactive fireworks display. Clicking on certain bubbles will cause certain descriptions of memories to appear. Not easily forgotten, Memories will surely leave you mesmerised. Well, hopefully.

Frequency

This project is an experimental piece of sonic art. By pushing the letters (A-Z) on the keyboard, the user can trigger 26 different vibrant bursts of electronic sound and light, that can be combined in many new and interesting ways. Frequency is fast, responsive and "great fun" to play with. Its basic aim is to encourage the user to be creative and to entertain themselves. If you don't do anything, you don't perceive anything.

This project is a real-time digital video editing toy created in Macromedia Flash, that aims to give the user, a creator's view; a maker's perspective. Featuring amusing footage of the SSAM 2000 Summer Exhibition, The Editor explores the notion of linking as an editing process. By simply clicking on 1 of the 25 shots in the input monitor, The Editor enables the user to instantly edit their own video, complete with a non-linear soundtrack.

The Aleph is an interactive adapation of a short story by Jorge Luis Borges. It attempts to engage the user in the drama of the narrative, by placing them as the protagonist in the story. Psychological audio and visual effects are used to shock, disorient and unsettle the user, giving them the experience of being the central character. Thengetasite Intro

In the Summer of 2000, Lee Tomlinson and I had the optimistic idea of setting up our own Web Design company. Despite coming up with a cool name, a smart website, and putting adverts in local newspapers, we never actually got any customers. This smart, fresh and funny animation, was the intro to thengetasite.com. Lee and I created it in Macromedia Flash, over a few days, and it was the first thing that I ever worked on in Flash.
